Lethargy after Quitting Smoking What's Happening to Me? Your exhaustion and legthargy probably are not new. They're only new to your conscious state. They've been there all along, it's just that they've been masked very efficiently and very successfully the past 10 or 20 years by your drugged state. Because nicotine is legal, we don't think of it as a drug. But it is, and for however many years or decades you have been using it -- or more correctly, for however many years it has been using you -- your true state of health has been hidden from you. We think that lighting up makes us feel better, removes our lethargic outlook and magically erases exhaustion. But it doesn't. All it does is provide an instant burst of pep. Our lethargy and exhaustion don't go anywhere. They've merely been masked temporarily -- again. Meanwhile, this same nicotine is now considered to be 10 times more addictive than heroin. Imagine that our government would also allow cocaine, heroin and crack to be used as openly on the streets and in all the public places. And if they're 10 times less addictive, why shouldn't they be? Why aren't we asking ourselves what the real reasons are behind the legal branding of nicotine? Much and possibly even most of the energy you think is the product of your natural, good health is not. It's a false representation of energy. If you are willing to notice, you will see that this so-called energy disappears, not uncoincidentally, when the nicotine burns up. That's why you light another -- and another, and another and another. Warning Signs If you've quit and don't like what you see and what you're feeling, you've unquestionably done a very wise thing, one that could save your life and one that will no doubt add years of peace, joy and good health to your remaining years. What to Do Meanwhile, make notes about your condition now that you've quit. Anything that hasn't cleared up or started to get better within a few days is something you may wish to consult your doctor about, especially if it persists.
